What Is The Paleo Caveman Diet?
Based upon commonly available modern foods, the Paleolithic or caveman diet is a diet that seeks to mimic the diet of the hunter-gatherer. The diet consists of foods that can be hunted and fished and can be gathered, but it also includes cultivated plants and domesticated animals as an alternative to the original diet. Dieters are advised to eat only lean meat, wild game, and grass-fed beef.
Fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamins, potassium, and fiber are an important part of hunter-gatherer diets. If kept in perspective, the diet can be a good one as it discourages the eating of processed carbohydrates that are the main stable of many modern diets particularly those of a lower socioeconomic level. Diets high in sugar and processed carbohydrates are the main cause of the increase in obesity and diabetes.
