September 15 - 21, 2025

VIRGO NEW MOON: The New Moon that occurs next Sunday will be accompanied by a partial Solar Eclipse. This eclipse, which occurs in the very last degree of Virgo, signifies the completion of a major cycle, both individually and collectively. The exact alignment of the Sun and the Moon occurs at 29°05' Virgo at 12:53 p.m. PDT on Sunday, September 21.

This is our second Virgo New Moon in 2025, the first having occurred on August 22/23. Virgo is the sign of the harvest, when crops are gathered and the valuable wheat grains are separated from the inedible chaff. This double dose of Virgo lunar cycles reinforces the need to use practical discernment in all matters.

We are likely to be very aware of what is "wrong" when Virgo energies are heightened. At the same time, we are cautioned not to fixate only on the problem, but rather to acknowledge the potentials for growth and healing that exist because of the issue. As Abraham-Hicks says, "It is only from exposure to contrast that any preferences or desires can be born. When the contrast gets greater, the desire gets greater too, and that's where miracles are from."

SOLAR ECLIPSE: Next Sunday's Solar Eclipse, even though it is a partial eclipse, is likely to feel especially strong due its close aspects to the outer planets. Most notably, the Sun and Moon will be tightly opposite Neptune (00°48' Aries) and Saturn (28°27' Pisces).

Neptune in Aries is in the process of dissolving humanity's belief in "might equals right," while also helping us individually to release old identities that keep us tied to past cycles and scenarios. This is an ongoing journey, and requires that we have trust and faith; without these essential qualities, we could experience a strong sense of disillusionment with this eclipse, due to not seeing the concrete or immediate results (Virgo) that we prefer.

At the same time, Saturn in Pisces is reminding us that our true authority lies not outside of us but is found within, and that our goals are best achieved by relying on our spiritual wisdom and by accessing our ability to imagine and envision. These directives from Saturn are in strong contrast to Virgo's belief that solutions are found through practical analysis, efficient techniques, and "making it work." The Saturn opposition to the eclipse could thus manifest as feelings of frustration that our usual methods and practical efforts do not have the hoped-for results.

GRAND TRINE: An exciting factor in next Sunday's New Moon eclipse is that it activates a "grand trine" with the Sun and Moon in close trine aspect to both high-vibrational Uranus in Gemini (01°21') and transformational Pluto in Aquarius (01°28'). Since the luminaries are in an earth sign and the two transpersonal planets are in air signs, this is known as a "dissociate" grand trine. According to astrologer Bil Tierney, in his book Dynamics of Aspect Analysis, this out-of-sign quality actually increases the effects of the configuration:

"The Dissociate Grand Trine has a bit more drive and activation in its makeup than does the Standard Grand Trine. Although it may seem less easy-flowing for the individual, it has enough subtle tension to prevent it from otherwise operating too passively."

With this New Moon eclipse, which is also conjunct Mercury in Libra, watch for revolutionary new ideas to emerge (Uranus) and hidden information to be revealed (Pluto). Innovations and revelations have the potential of initiating major changes that will unfold over the next month and the next six months, until the next pair of eclipses in February and March 2026.

DAILY ASPECTS THIS WEEK (September 15 - 21, 2025):

Here are my brief interpretations of this week's most important aspects, day by day:

Monday
Mars opposite Eris, Mercury quincunx Eris: It could be harder to find common ground today. Controversies and conflicts are possible, and stalemates in legal matters as well.
Venus trine Eris, Venus sextile Mars: Today we are supported in taking action on something we enjoy doing, perhaps pursuing a romantic relationship or initiating a creative project.

Tuesday
Mercury quincunx Chiron, Venus trine Chiron, Mars opposite Chiron: Old insecurities and angers may surface now. However, there are opportunities for healing due to a willingness to be open about our feelings.

Wednesday
Mercury opposite Saturn: There could be frustrations or worry today due to communications glitches and delays in travel plans.

Thursday
Mercury enters Libra: While Mercury is in the sign of the Scales, from September 18 to October 6, we tend to prioritize harmony and compromise when dealing with others. We have a better ability to see both sides of a situation. A dislike of conflict might cause us to hold back our honest opinions.
Venus quincunx Saturn: Fear of rejection can cause setbacks in relationships. Some may be aloof or find ways to create emotional distance.
Mercury opposite Neptune, Mercury trine Uranus, Mercury trine Pluto: Intuition, instinct, and the imagination are strong now, and we are open to new ideas and perspectives. However, it might be hard to clearly formulate the words to express our thoughts.

Friday
Mercury trine Sedna: We are very aware of how we have played a victim role in the past, and seek to find a better balance in our relationships.
Venus enters Virgo: We tend to be more realistic about relationships while Venus is in Virgo, from September 19 to October 13. We may also express love by being of service or fulfilling a practical need. Since Virgo can be somewhat reserved, some may feel shy about initiating a relationship during this time. With the shadow side of Virgo being the perfectionist, there could be a tendency to be overly critical of a partner.
Venus quincunx Neptune: Disappointments and disillusionment are possible, especially if we have idealized a person or a situation.
Mars quincunx Saturn: We could deal with some frustrations due to delays in having our needs met. This aspect requires an attitude adjustment and an acceptance of proper timing.

Saturday
Venus square Uranus, Venus quincunx Pluto, Venus square Sedna: The need for independence and autonomy are strong now, which could manifest as relationship challenges. Jealousy and a fear of loss might result in attempts to manipulate the situation.
Sun opposite Saturn: It could be harder to stay positive today, since the critical side of our natures is activated. We might also be dealing with authority figures who are disoriented, irresponsible, or do not have good decision-making abilities.

Sunday
Partial Solar Eclipse/New Moon: The Sun and Moon exactly conjoin at 12:53 p.m. PDT, when both luminaries are at 29°05' Virgo. The partial eclipse will be visible on the morning of September 22 in New Zealand, and can also be seen from Australia’s eastern coast, various Pacific islands, and parts of Antarctica.

If Your Birthday Is This Week (September 15 - 21):

Your year ahead may be very eventful, with many new opportunities to be of service, or to share your ideas through teaching or writing. You could feel quite inspired and empowered by new ideas that seem to appear out of nowhere. However, you might not immediately have a clear sense of how best to share those insights. There could also be some delays in manifesting your vision, requiring patience, faith, letting go of the need to control, and accepting that the universe knows the proper timing. (Solar Return Sun conjunct Mercury, opposite Saturn, trine Uranus, opposite Neptune, trine Pluto)
