As Neptune in Pisces reaches its final turning point, a spiritual awakening unfolds quietly beneath the surface. Direction may feel unclear, plans may dissolve, and certainty may fade. Yet this is not failure. It is an invitation to trust intuition over control, to release illusions, and to move with a deeper current that cannot be forced but only followed.
In This Week's Astrological Overview:
- Why Neptune in Pisces creates uncertainty at turning points
- How spiritual awakening often arrives without clarity
- What illusions are quietly dissolving now
- Why surrender is not the same as giving up
- How intuition becomes more reliable than logic

Overview: December 8 - 14, 2025
AWAKENING FROM THE DREAM: Other-worldly Neptune is a very strong influence in our individual and collective lives now, due to being virtually at a standstill this week. The Planet of Transcendence will station direct in the final "anaretic" degree of watery Pisces on Wednesday, December 10.
As Neptune finishes its five-month retrograde phase, it enters the concluding stage of its 14-year transit of the last sign of the zodiac (2011-2026). With this focus on endings, we have a sense that much is coming to completion now. However, due to Neptune's undefined nature, our perception of what is to come may not be very clear—and with Mars squaring Neptune as it stations this week, our sense of direction could also be hazy.
THE NEPTUNE EFFECT: Neptune's energy is visionary, spiritual, and idealistic. As a cosmic teacher, it instructs us in the arts of surrendering to a higher flow, following our intuition, using our imagination, and receiving higher messages through our dreams and visions. These qualities will serve us well this week.
There are two analogies I like to use in illustrating how Neptune works in our lives—which you perhaps have heard if you've had a private session with me! The first is that of the tide coming in. In this scenario, we've built a sand castle on the beach, that we've idealized as our "dream home." As the tide comes in, if that castle does not have a firm foundation, parts or all of it will be washed away.
My second analogy for Neptune's effect is that of crossing a river in the fog. There are six key lessons we must embrace if in this type of situation. The first is to Surrender to the process, for we have no way to make the fog dissipate. The second is to Release Attachment to seeing the outcome, since the shore on the other side is obscured. Third, we must focus on having Faith in a greater plan, one that we might not consciously know at this point. Fourth, we must nurture Trust in three ways: trust that the fog will eventually clear, trust that there is a shore on the other side, and trust that even if we cannot see our progress, we are actually drifting in the direction we want to go.
Since there is nothing to be done on deck, our final lessons of a Neptune transit involve going below, to the cabin of the boat. Once there, we can watch the navigational dials for information about our journey, which is equivalent to Going Within and Listening to Intuition. Finally, we also learn to tune our ears to the sound of the fog horns, representing Asking for Higher Guidance.
NEPTUNE IN PISCES: It can be perplexing to interpret how Neptune's energy works in Pisces, since Neptune is a dissolving influence and Pisces is already watery. What we focus on when discussing the Neptune-in-Pisces years (April 2011-January 2026) is how it is assisting us in rising above the lower-vibrational characteristics of the sign (every sign has both higher and lower vibrational qualities).
With Neptune in the final weeks of its transit through Pisces, it is working overtime to make sure we have learned everything it has wanted to teach us. Those lessons could involve letting go of overly idealistic visions—the ones that have no substance to support them. We might be seeing through illusions that have merely been a smoke screen hiding the truth. Neptune in Pisces may also be asking us to address various forms of escapism, apathy, and addictions, which might provide short-term relief but ultimately only add to the problem.
DAILY ASPECTS THIS WEEK (December 8 - 14, 2025):
Here are my brief interpretations of this week's most important aspects, day by day:
Monday
Venus sesquiquadrate Eris: Differences of beliefs and values are the source of conflict. Controversies could disrupt alliances and cause discord within relationships.
Mars square Saturn: Frustrations are likely due to obstacles and delays. Freedoms could be restricted in some way, and there might be altercations with authority figures.
Tuesday
No major aspects are exact today.
Wednesday
Neptune stations direct: Neptune's energies are very strong now, requiring us to rise above the purely human perspective and to cultivate trust and faith.
Mercury opposite Uranus: Surprising information surfaces, challenging our usual perspectives. Nervous energy is heightened and our minds could be distracted. Miscommunications may occur and unexpected detours could send us down unfamiliar roads.
Venus square Moon's nodes: Relationships or a need for attention could distract us from our higher path. We might also find ourselves thinking about people from the past, or considering relationship patterns that we are now ready to leave behind.
Thursday
Mercury trine Neptune: The mind is intuitive and imaginative. Decisions are based more on feelings than on logic.
Last Quarter Moon: The Virgo Moon squares the Sagittarius Sun at 12:51 p.m. PST today. This is the half-way point between last week's powerful Gemini Full Moon and the pivotal New Moon in Sagittarius that occurs on December 19. Events that occur now play an important role in clearing the old energies to make way for the new.
Mercury enters Sagittarius: While the Messenger Planet is in the sign of the Archer (December 11-January 1), the search for higher meanings and truths is a top priority. Our minds tend to be philosophical, more interested in the bigger picture than in the details. Some may be very drawn to a belief system or become dogmatic. Communications are direct and opinions are shared freely, but we might not be very tactful in our words or in how we express humor.
Friday
Mercury opposite Sedna: Our attention could be drawn to situations in which there is an experience of deception, betrayal, or abandonment. Ultimately, as we let go of defining ourselves by the old stories, we allow a spiritual shift to occur.
Saturday
Mars quincunx Uranus: People may behave erratically or unexpectedly under this influence. Impatience, restlessness, and nervous energy are heightened.
Mercury sextile Pluto: The mind is insightful and eager to find out the truth. This aspect supports investigations and an understanding of motives.
Sunday
Mars square Neptune: Under this influence, we might lack clarity on what we truly need, and on how or whether we want to take action. There could be an overall sense of confusion if intuition is guiding us in ways that appear to contradict our chosen beliefs. We may be feeling discouraged or disillusioned.
Sun trine Chiron, Sun quincunx Jupiter: Feelings of vulnerability could be strong today. Instead of blaming or being defensive, we can use this experience as an opportunity for self-care, especially in support of the part of us that is feeling fearful or insecure.
Venus semisquare Pluto: Trust issues may be triggered today, with some feeling suspicious or jealous. Deeper desires come to the surface to be addressed honestly.
Mars enters Capricorn: Mars will travel through the sign of the Seagoat from December 15 to January 23. During these weeks, actions tend to be practical and deliberate, with a focus on the ultimate goal. Some may be quite ambitious or authoritative, and thus less flexible or collaborative.

If Your Birthday Is This Week (December 8 - 14):
You are highly motivated by what you believe in this year, and could create partnerships with others who share your values. Some of your efforts may be applied to assisting those who have been ignored or disenfranchised. However, there are certain lessons you will be learning along the way, with respect to taking your time and being practical. You are also learning to prioritize your own spiritual practice, to go within and to follow your intuition, rather than relying solely on facts and analysis.
