08 18 being willing to create a new story for yourself

Life doesn't always hand us the circumstances we'd choose. Sometimes we're dealt hardship, disappointment, or pain that feels beyond our control. But here's what we can control: whether we see ourselves as victims of our story or as the authors of what comes next. Today is about recognizing that even when we can't change what happened, we can change how we respond—and in doing so, reshape our future.

The focus for today is:
Step out of the history that is holding you back. Step into the new story you are willing to create.

Today's message is inspired by Eileen Campbell, author of the book: Woman's Book of Hope: Meditations for Passion, Power, and Promise
Campbell shares the remarkable story of Xiaolu Guo, who transformed a childhood of abandonment, poverty, and abuse into a life of artistic achievement and literary success. Given away at birth, raised by illiterate grandparents in a primitive fishing village, and later subjected to cruelty and violence, Xiaolu chose hope over despair. She became what she calls "self-made"—creating herself through imagination, literature, and unwavering determination. Her story demonstrates that with hope in our hearts, an imagination to envision a different future, and perseverance to make it happen, we can become the heroines of our own stories rather than victims of circumstance.
