Have you ever noticed how certain patterns keep pulling you away from peace? Maybe it's the endless wanting, the avoiding what's uncomfortable, or that restless mind that won't settle. These aren't character flaws—they're simply obstacles we all face on the path to inner calm.
 
The focus for today is:
Through the practice of mindfulness, we can achieve an inner peace that is more stable.
 
Today's message is inspired by Charles A. Francis, author of the book: Mindfulness Meditation Made Simple: Your Guide to Finding True Inner Peace
The ancient Buddhists identified five common hindrances to spiritual development: sensual desire, aversion, lethargy, agitation, and doubt. The good news? We don't have to fight them. As Francis explains, "We're going to stand guard like the police officer on the side of the road, and watch for that speeding motorist when he passes by." Simply observing these patterns with awareness is enough to diminish their power over us.
