InnerSelf.com welcomes your inner Self.
Since each one of us is unique, we also have our own unique way of seeing things and interpreting them. And this often leads to problems in relationships, and in society in general. We may all "see" the same thing or person, but we interpret it differently based on our history, our present situation, and even our hopes and dreams. When we look at someone or something, we all see them differently through the lens of our own perception and expectations.
This is why the following is recommended:
"Just walk a mile in his mocassins,
before you abuse, criticize, and accuse."
-- Mary T Lathrap, Judge Softly (1895 poem)
It's easy for us to judge others, criticize them, or otherwise think poorly of them because their beliefs, their actions, their goals in life are different from ours. Yet, deep down, we all have the same goal: happiness in whatever form or expression that takes for us.
This week we feature articles to helpp expand our awareness and understanding of not only ourselves, but of the world around us... because after all, it is all connected.
